Hostgator alternatives

Tired of HostGator? Slow support? Downtime problems? You’ve come to the right place.

Ever since HostGator was acquired by Endurance International Group (EIG), the quality of their service went down the drain and a lot of their customers started leaving. These people are looking for HostGator alternatives left and right, but most of the time they are lured into signing up with another EIG brand which means they essentially never left HostGator.

Recommended HostGator Alternatives

We created this site to help HostGator’s ex-customers — or soon-to-be ex-customers — find alternative hosting. We only recommend hosts with good service and support and not another another EIG brand with loud name but poor quality.

The following are our recommended alternatives for HostGator. These hosts have been tried and tested and they offer much better service and support than HostGator. Our most recommended hosts are on top of the list.

StableHost
StableHost is one of the hosts we recommend the most. Why? Their prices are cheap, their support is great, and their service is STABLE just as their name is. Give them a try today and experience the difference.

SiteGround
SiteGround is great for starters. Their hosting plans are cheap enough for small businesses or startups to afford. Their service is great and support is amazing too. The prices are cheap even for huge traffic web owners (~ 100000 visits monthly).

MDDHosting
MDDHosting is one of the premium web hosts that we like. They may not be as cheap as HostGator and most of its competitors, but once you host your site with MDDHosting, you will immediately come to know that this host screams performance.

WP Engine
WPEngine has been focusing only on WordPress sites and they have been doing a great job so far. Their fully managed WP hosting platform provides a top notch experience, plus we’ve heard that the speed of their servers is fantastic. Recommended for users with high website traffic who want an expert WP support.

Site5
Site5 is an established web hosting brand that we love as a HostGator alternative. They offer many different server locations. Having this choice can help you improve your website’s performance.

HawkHost
HawkHost is one of our favorite alternatives. Their prices are cheap and yet the service is amazing. They are not very popular like HostGator, but hosting is not supposed to be a popularity contest. Once you try HawkHost, you’ll notice an increase in your website’s performance.

MediaTemple
MediaTemple is our recommended host for WordPress users. They have a special optimized plan for WordPress websites. This company has great infrastructure and solid support so you will never have to worry about your site’s stability ever again.

NameCheap
NameCheap is more popularly known as a domain registrar, but their hosting service hasn’t been left behind. Their prices are comparable to most shared web hosting out there but the performance is great. They offer Live Chat Support that’s available 24/7 for your convenience.

A2 Hosting
A2 Hosting is a popular choice for blogs because they offer super fast SSD servers. This means your database performance will increase and in turn, your website will load in an instant. Their support staff are very knowledgeable too.

Recently sold to EIG :(, but still good performance:

A Small Orange
A Small Orange has been an established web hosting company that catered especially to small websites. Though they have been sold to EIG recently, their service has stayed pretty much the same. The question is will they be able to provide the same high-quality service as before the acquisition.
Arvixe was our alternative for some time even after EIG purchase, but we had to remove them from our site due to very bad reviews recently. Let’s just hope ASO doesn’t walk the same way…

HostGator Reviews/Testimonials from Credible Sources

Here are some verified HostGator reviews we’ve collected from various sources in the internet. We know you’re already leaving HostGator, but we’d like to let you know that you’re not the only one doing so!

We pay $175 each month for Snappy 8000 VPS server – hostgator. They really sucks every time we have problems. They don’t even answer the tickets or sometimes reply after 48 – 72 hours. If you want to build a big website, simply do not use their service. [sic] magnificent

I used to be a HUGE fan of HostGator, but over the last year their service has really gone down hill. In order to cut costs, they’ve been migrating all of their … to a new datacenter that they run in Utah, and it sucks.

Stay away from HostGator, they aren’t worth a penny. They may be a popular hosting company but since their servers are damn slow and they treat their customers like shit.

Review Hell

I’ve been a customer of HostGator for about 6 or 7 years and I’ve always loved them, but as we all know in the technology industry that can all change in the blink of an eye. Recently they migrated us away from the SoftLayer Data Center and our websites were down for 2 days!
